Singleton for USA market.
Singleton is a whisky brand that belongs to DIAGEO. Single malts from different distillieries can be bottled under that name, of course from DIAGEO portfolio eg. Dufftown, Glen Ord. My bottle contains whisky from Glendullan Distillery in Dufftown and is designed for the U.S. market. Age – 12 years, 40% ABV (80 proof). Bourbon barrels and sherry casks were used for the maturation. The distillery was founded in 1897. The vast majority of its production goes to blending.
N: citrus, after a while it gets spicy, further it is sweet with vanilla, biscuits and honey, in the background I have a little fruits with a peach and nectarine, at the very end there are some wooden tones,
T: relatively smooth, at first sour, then sweet, but nothing particularly specific, further an oak enhances, a touch of cocoa, maybe nuts, gently gingery with bitterness, sparkling on the tongue, which in time becomes stronger,
F: medium long, dry, on the oak.
A drop of water enhances the sweetness in aroma and taste. I’ll probably boring, but this single malt would gain when bottled with a higher ABV and unchillfiltered.
