Kilchoman 2007/2013 5 years old Single Cask Release Tokyo International Bar Show
for Whisky Live Tokyo 2013.
for Whisky Live Tokyo 2013.
I have already dedicated a few posts to Tokyo International Bar Show & Whisky Live Tokyo 2013 but no worry I really like that event and have only good memories. I put on the blog tasting notes of special releases prepaired for the show eg. BenRiach 1985 Limited Realease TIBS and GlenDronach Single Cask 2002 TIBS.
C: dark amber,
N: peat is obvious, high ABV level irritates the nose, a little sherry, addiction of water opened the nose and gave some freshness, delicate melon, watermelon and ash have appeared,
T: intense, fast-growing, soury, sherry, red ripe fruits, sweet and then straight to the overwhelming peat, on pepper,
F: medium long, peated.
Score: 83.
Kilchoman 5 years old although young has quite a nice temper and accurately predicts the future of distillery. Described today release could mature a little longer, so it would pull out more from the wood. So far peat is quite overwhelming but in the future you will fell more sherry notes.
Scoring is based on my impressions and feelings, so its character is of course subjective.
