good price single malt.
Single malt market in Poland is constantly growing, as evidenced by increasing its availability in different stores. Competition should encourage lower prices, which will allow a larger group of society to enjoy tasting the water of life and increase demand.
One of markets has recently become a part of such a trend, as you can find there whisky Bowmore Legend for 99.99 PLN. Single malt for the price seems quite a good deal.
What are we dealing with?
Bowmore Legend is a basic version of whisky from this distillery (link to the post on the blog with the Bowmore visit).
Alcohol on a minimal level 40%, coloured with caramel and chillfiltered. Of course I would prefer at least 46% ABV, natural colour i unchillfiltered. Such a presentation offers the youngest distillery on Islay of Islay Kilchoman, so surely the oldest would also handled. Legend is a young whisky, no age statement, matured in Bourbon barrels.
N: fresh, citrus – orange and lemon, further rhubarb, sweet, vanilla, caramel – like Werters Original, in the background smoke and peat,
T: nice sparking at the beginning of the tongue, soft peat and smoke that builds up over time, next slightly acidic with a hint of lemon, along the way, there is also something sweet,
F: medium long with peat, smoke and a touch of lemon.
Nice and quite calm whisky, a good introduction to Islay of Islay, if someone does not want to jump straight into the deep end (eg Laphroaig or Ardbeg). It is also suitable for beginners in the World of Single Malts. Mild smell and taste, there is nothing particularly daunting and demanding. Fairly good value for money ratio.
