Shiver me timbers.
After stiring atavistic soul with SMWS 93.38, the time has come for Shiver me timbers! Also from Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Also ex Sherry, refill butt, older, because matured 26 years, bottled cask strength 53,1% ABV, natural colour, un-chillfiltered. There are only 227 bottles.
Lets taste it!
C: darker amber with red glow,
N: very sweet, vanilla, Calypso icecream (vanilla kind) – I remember it from school days, didn’t know that they still produce it, wonder if tastes the same I remember, friend associate the Bambino ice cream, but I don’t know it very well, then fresh, smoke and peat, with the addition of water, ginger, lime, medical notes, more smoke, leather armchairs,
T: beautifully developing, red fruits going in to some pepper notes, then sweetnes, honey is getting out, a light touch of wood, then smoke and some peat, tobacco, citrus, leather seats, with the addition of water, ginger, sparkling is longer, more leather, citrus, there is also a little more sweet and peat,
F: very long, sweetness interspersed with smoke and peat, sparkling still remains.
After 27 years in ex-sherry cask I expected that it will be a sherry monster, but this feels more like a ex-bourbon barrel, fascinating.
Shiver me timbers! This is a wonderful whisky! Unusual discovery.
This is Highland Park.
After tasting we went enjoying the beautiful sunset.
