The Peated Malt Speyside Glenlivet […]

Old Ballantruan to single malt stworzony w destylarni Tomintoul w Speyside. Dziś rynek whisky jest trudny, konkurencja coraz większa, ale i popyt rośnie, dlatego gorzelnie dotąd produkujące owocowe i łagodne malty, sięgaj po nowych odbiorców. W taki sposób coraz więcej firm ze Speyside oferuje torfowe wydania. Tą metodą poszli w Tomintoul i stworzyli markę mającą okazać, iż „ciemniejszą”, torfową stronę. W moje ręce wpadła Old Ballantruan 10 years old, która została zabutelkowana z 50% ABV i unchillfiltered. Brzmi przyzwoicie. Punktacja: 84. Old Ballantruan 10 years old to porządny single malt. Przy badaniu zapachu przyda się nieco cierpliwości, aby przebić się przez torf i dotrzeć do słodkich i owocowych elementów. Smak dobrze koresponduje z zapachem. Natomiast 50% ABV wydaje się dopasowane idealnie. Smakuje mi. [caption id=attachment_8032 align=alignnone width=1920] Old...

Zatem do dzieła. N:...

In anticipation of their own whisky

Raasay is an island located between the Isle of Skye and the mainland of Scotland. It also happens that recently (since 2017) there is also a distillery of the same name. The work onsite is still too short to try their single malt whisky, the premiere of which is scheduled for 2020. However, the company didn’t want us to be too sad and get us used to a new player in the market, thats why they offer a single malt distilled in another distillery under the name Raasay While We Wait. This...

    Blended Malt od Douglas Laing

Its time to enter the New Year. For this occasion, I bought something that caught my attention above all with the look. Yes, I know it does not have the slightest impact on the tasting values, but you do not always have to take everything so seriously. This seriousness is more than enough for every day. Therefore, it started from the package - you can assess it by pictures below. Interesting, with a movable ring in the middle, allows you to play with characters. What else? We have here...

    Fully matured Ardbeg

Today, wandering the streets of Sopot, in principle, quite unexpectedly, I hit tasting of a new Ardbeg Twenty Something 23 years old. Its good sometimes to go out and explore the city ;) Were dealing here with a bottling from 2017, guaranteed 23 years of maturation, as certified by the producer and non chill-filtered. Power is placed at a reasonable 46.3% ABV. This is the second edition of the Twenty Something, prepared to honor the people who protected the distillery from complete closure...

    Young Sherrymonster

Recently, I had the opportunity to take a walk through the airport shops, mainly in the whisky departments. In fact, nothing particularly interested me. Yes, I met terribly expensive bottles Dalmore, Macallan or 50-year-old Glenfiddich, except that I treat them rather as a permanent exhibition. From products for people, my eyes attracted Aberlour ABunadh, batch 58, 61.1% ABV and I decided to take it on a further journey. Yes, its a NAS, except that in a natural presentation - colour, no...

    Private Edition 9

Glenmorangie has just presented the ninth release of Private Edition. It just happens that I have a beautifully presented small bottle of this drink together with a tasting glass, all properly packed in a nice box. I must admit that Glenmorangie is bringing presenting samples on a new level. This time we also have NAS, traditional 46% ABV, unchillfiltered and fully matured in the barrels after Rye Whiskey, which is now regaining recognition among consumers. I like the last editions of the...

    Peat and red wine.

During last Whisky Live Warsaw 2017, a friend of mine presented me a solid sample of Longrow Red 13 years old Malbec Cask Matured - great thanks. Longrow is a peated whisky produced by the Springbank Distillery, next to the Springbark (medium peated) and much milder Hazelburn. We are talking about the Campbeltown Region, which is the smallest whisky region in Scotland. In addition to these, there are also Glen Scotia Distillery and Glengyle Distillery producing Kilkerran. My guest for today...

    Young and ready

It has been a while since last Kilchoman on the blog, then it was a version prepared for Whisky Live Tokyo 2013. Today I also have a festival version, the Whisky & Friends M&P Festival. This time it is also a single cask, no 254/2011, my bottle is 45 out of 258, distilled on 27th May 2011 and bottled on 11th April 2016, natural color, unchillfiltered, cask strength 58% ABV, finish in Pedro Ximenez casks. There is nothing to hide I like single casks the most. Lets get straight to the...

    Utah Whiskey

With age, the time is running faster or all that is good soon ends, you could endlessly cite this type of wisdom. I just got back from vacation, hence the mood. That is why it may be worth a moment to reminisce. I was in the US, most the time in Utah - beautiful national parks and this kind of stuff. Really very nice, peaceful area, worth exploring and returning. I would not be myself if I didn’t look at the liquor stores from time to time. And there is a surprise ... the lack of whisky ......
