Talisker Skye

NAS from Isle of Skye […]

From the Isle of Skye we had here Talisker 57 North, earlier classic 10 years old, also I posted a report from the visit to the distillery. For today, I prepared Talisker Skye, another NAS (no age statement), fortunately bottled at 45.8% ABV. N: still in the bottle, somewhat peat with smoked fish - this is a good prediction; you have to fill a glass - first alcoholic breeze, which clears quickly as breeze should, then a bit sweet - biscuits maybe, cooked apples, furthermore peat accents, smoked fish, fishing nets, brine, sea air, not particularly comprehensive and versatile but pleasant; S: in taste the elements of young alcohol are more noticeable, there is quite a lot sparking on the tongue and warming up, you have to get through it, a little vanilla, peat emerge in the background, more and more wood, ginger, bitterness, gets dryer with the time; F: even long, with a large dose of wood, dry. Score: 77. Talisker Skye has been added to the collection. The pleasant aroma characterizes it, though not particularly rich. The taste is staying behind. Such a charm of the NAS, you cannot have everything, although in general it is decent. Announcement of autumn

Talisker has already hosted on the blog (eg. Talisker 10 years old), recently I posted a report from a visit to the distillery. Autumn is fast approaching, so today a version corresponding to this climate. Talisker 57 ° North. This edition is no age statement (NAS), but with a high content - 57% ABV. Ageing took place in bourbon casks. 57 ° North is originated form a latitude that the distillery is located. As it turned out during the tasting, whisky clouded after adding water, so it is...

    Visit to the Talisker Distillery

The only distillery on the Islay of Skye

As probably I have already mentioned in a few places (eg. Tasting in the Orkney) a year ago I also traveled to Scotland. I visited several distilleries, but so far it eluded me to write about them. Ill have to slowly make up for these shortcomings. Due to the fact that recently I tasted Talisker 10 years old, today I give some photos from the visit in this distillery. It should be remembered that Talisker is the only distillery located on the beautiful Isle of Skye - island of the...

The only from Isle of Skye

Once, Talisker 10 years old was the primary whisky from this distillery. Now there are Storms, Mochs etc, but fortunately 10 years old has not disappeared from the market and is still available. We have a bottling at 45.8% ABV, why not 46%, I dont know, maybe to stand out? The difference of 0.2% is so small that it rather doesnt influence on tasting virtues. I would not cry if the color was natural and there have been no chill filtering, but I cannt have everything ;). [caption...

    My favourite Johnnie Walker

Johnnie Walker brand needs no introduction. The basic version, Red Label can be found everywhere, in large quantities. It all has started in 1820 in Kilmarnock, when 15 year old John Walker founded the store where he offered, among others, alcohols. Mixing whisky in larger amounts occurred during the reign of Alexander Walker. It was after 1860. In 1893 the company purchased its first single malt distillery Cardu. Later they also acquired shares in many other distillieries. Currently Johnnie...
