Kilchoman Single Cask 2011/2016 PX Finish na Whisky & Friends M&P Festival

Young and ready […]

It has been a while since last Kilchoman on the blog, then it was a version prepared for Whisky Live Tokyo 2013. Today I also have a festival version, the Whisky & Friends M&P Festival. This time it is also a single cask, no 254/2011, my bottle is 45 out of 258, distilled on 27th May 2011 and bottled on 11th April 2016, natural color, unchillfiltered, cask strength 58% ABV, finish in Pedro Ximenez casks. There is nothing to hide I like single casks the most. Lets get straight to the point. Independent Macallan

Macallan previously appeared on the blog in the official version of Fine Oak, after 18 years of maturing. Today I decided to reach for Macallan 21 years old from the independent bottler Douglas Laing, Old & Rare series, Platinum Selection. We have here a single cask - refill hogshead, 245 bottles (mines no 6), cask strength 52% ABV, natural colour. Distillation took place in March 1989, bottling in September 2010. The presentation is just perfect. [caption id=attachment_7160...

    Oloroso Sherry Puncheon

GlenDronach Distilery is experiencing a renaissance and is famous for whisky aged in sherry casks. Something like Macallan a few decades ago. Today I have a single cask, distilled August 1, 2003, bottled in August 2016, so we have 13 years. Single malt matured in Oloroso Sherry Puncheon, cask No. 5480, a total of 687 bottles was created. Of course, natural color, unchillfiltered, cask strength 54.6% ABV. In fact, I could drink only single casks, thats a charm of natural presentation. This...

    Laphroaig from Douglas Laing

It’s been a long time since we had here Laphroaig ;), recently it appeared on the blog in August – it was 10 years old from 70s. Therefore, it is time for the next one. Today also quite unusual, because of independent bottler - Douglas Laing from a series of Old Particular. It was released to celebrate the Feis Ile 2015. Distillation in February 2001, bottling in February 2015. Single cask - refill butt - a total of 636 bottles with 48.4% ABV. Of course, natural color and no chill...

    Glenlivet w naturalnej prezentacji

Jednak hola, hola, nic z tych rzeczy. Trzeba czytać całe zdanie, a brzmi ono The Glenlivet Carn Dulack Single Cask Edition. W efekcie dostajemy single cask z natural colour i unchillfiltered. A to wszystko zabutelkowane w lutym 2016 roku, w wersji cask strength 60.2% ABV, po 14...

    Blind tasting in Warsaw

Two weeks ago, oh how time flies ... I had the pleasure to participate in the Whisky Legend 2016 tasting organized by Daniel and Grzegorz from Whiskymywife. Leitmotif was Port Ellen versus the rest - only closed distilleries. Convention the same as at Whisky Legend 2015 - blind tasting. Information about what, in what order we drank was revealed at the end. Below I present my basic tasting impressions, but I didnt write everything during the event, in effect, records are not able to cast...

    Bogha – Drochaide

Last time I visited Islay Ive been to Bruichladdich (An Turas Mor, Laddie Classic Edition 1). There my eyes were attracted by sherry butt of peated whisky for self-filling. There was no choice, I just had to fill a bottle for yourself. from Gordon & MacPhail for Wealth Solutions

Wealth Solutions continues the tradition, and this year offers another more than half a century old single malt. I had the pleasure to taste the earlier editions: Glenfarclas 1953, 58 years old Karuizawa 1964, 48 years old Glen Grant 1948, 66 years old Each of these single malts deserves very high marks. This time we have whisky distilled, as before, by Glen Grant in 1950, bottled on 14th October 2015, which is exactly after 65 years of maturing, which took place in Gordon &...

    Hand filled, single cask

GlenDronach is recently very well growing single malt. The distillery is famous for the editions of whisky aged in casks after fortified wines, particularly sherry. Previously I described special edition prepared for Whisky Live Tokyo 2013. That whisky was 10 years old and matured in Sauternes cask (you can read about it here). I like it. Today I have in a glass a special edition too, available only at the distillery for hand-filling. Distilled 7th October 1994, bottled 12 March 2015, we...

    For Wealth Solutions, Poland

Karuizawa is one of my favorite distillery. It has appeared on the blog many times before. I also mentioned about Karuizawa 1964 for Wealth Solutions, eg. at this link. I posted there a video about the launch of this single malt, I recommend it as an introduction to this post. [caption id=attachment_4462 align=alignnone width=801] Karuizawa 1964[/caption] Karuizawa 1964 was distilled on 1st August 1964 and bottled on 24th December 2012 roku, with 57,7% ABV.
