Hakushu NAS
On Sakurajima volcano […]
After a relation from the visit to the Chichibu Distillery, lets stay for a moment in Japan. This time we will go to the south to the island of Kyushu, to the active volcano Sakurajima approx. 1117 m above sea level, located in the neighborhood of Kagoshima city. Ive tried it in the Yamazaki Distillery, owned by to the same company - Suntory. There are also Hakushu 12 years old and Hakushu Single Cask on the blog. [caption id=attachment_4217 align=alignnone width=801] Hakushu NAS, Sakurajima, Kyushu[/caption] N: typical Japanese, sweet, biscuity, raisiny with green apples and pears, slightly herbal, with vanilla, deeper and with a time I have a little of smoke and it is not the smoke from the volcano ;) T: sparks on the tongue, but it does not irritate with the taste of alcohol, thats good; sweet, biscuity, after a while almost ripe citruses arrive, orange and mandarin, a touch of figs, occasional delicate traces of peat; F: rather short with traces of orange and vanilla. Score: 81. In Japan, it is mainly drink with lots of ice, but of course, it is well suited to be enjoyed in its pure form. The next day, I felt it a little ashy, but this time it was clearly from Sakurajima.
