Independent Tomatin […]

On the blog Tomatin has not yet arrived, I have to change it. So I invite you to tasting impressions the Tomatin 1996/2013, 46% ABV, Connoisseurs Choice, Gordon & MacPhail. As with other releases of this series we have natural color and unchillfiltered. C: white wine, N: first of all light and sweet, vanilla, butter cookies, coconut cookies, white chocolate, caramel, not too intense and quite unilateral, after some time I still have floral notes, maybe an apricot, then banana and cinnamon; T: light pinching on the tongue, orange peel, red orange, banana, butter cookies, light and pleasant; F: medium long fruity. Score: 84. Tomatin 1996/2013, 46% ABV, Connoisseurs Choice, Gordon & MacPhail is an interesting malt, it is necessary to give it a moment, the smell will surely develop, but the whole will remain light and calm as you are accustomed to light tongue pinching. Independent Dalmore

Four years ago on the blog I posted an entry about Dalmore 12 years old (how this time flies), I invite you to that entry as a prelude to todays colleague, which is Dalmore from an independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice series, vintage 1999, bottled in 2013 with 46% ABV. Typically for the release we have natural color and unchillfiltered. On this occasion, I have to mention Brand Ambassador Richard Paterson, who seems to be celebrating 50th anniversary in the whisky...

    Kolejny Benromach

After the previous post about the Benromach 10 years old 100 Proof I decided to go with the flow and try the Benromach Wood Finish Hermitage. Lets get right to the details, and use as an introduction the previous post. This single malt was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2016 with a power of 45% ABV. The basic time whisky matured in first fill Bourbon casks, followed by 31 months in barrels of wine from Hermitage Appellation. Quite a long finish in wine barrels. [caption...

    Small Speyside Distillery

During the last Whisky Festival in Jastrzębia Góra Mr. John regaled me with some delicious single malts. On the way back I got also a sample of Benromach 10 years old 100 Proof, 57% ABV, which Im going just to taste. This is the debut of Benromach on the blog (not counting the Masterclass at the Whisky Live Paris 2013), so at the outset, I must specify that the distillery is located in Speyside and is one of the smallest. It was founded in 1898 near Forres. As with the case of many...

    Jura from GM

Jura is the only distillery located on the Isle of Jura, but it seems that Ive had already time to write about it (eg. A visit to the Isle of Jura, The Isle of Jura Boutique Barrels, Jura Origin 10 yo, Jura 16 yo Diurachs Own). Certainly distillery and island itself are worth a visit. Okay ... but what we have today? It is Jura Vintage 1997/2012 from Gordon & MacPhail, a series of Connoisseurs Choice, bottled with 46% ABV, no coloring or chillfiltration. K: white wine; N: malty,...

    Highland Park in natural presentation

Highland Park (in this link you can find my photo report from a visit to the distillery) has already appeared on the blog for example as the Loki or SMWS 4.151, which I really loved or the official release of 1998/2008. Today I reached, as in the case of SMWS 4.151, for an independent bottler – Gordon & MacPhail. In this case we are dealing with a series of cask strength - 59.9% ABV and natural presentation. This is vintage 2005 bottled in 2013, which is relatively young. For its...

from Gordon & MacPhail for Wealth Solutions

Wealth Solutions continues the tradition, and this year offers another more than half a century old single malt. I had the pleasure to taste the earlier editions: Glenfarclas 1953, 58 years old Karuizawa 1964, 48 years old Glen Grant 1948, 66 years old Each of these single malts deserves very high marks. This time we have whisky distilled, as before, by Glen Grant in 1950, bottled on 14th October 2015, which is exactly after 65 years of maturing, which took place in Gordon &...
