Merry Christmas […]

Previous Ardmore on the blog was official Traditional Cask NAS, 46% ABV, that I liked, by its way I also wrote a few words about this distillery. Before that I had here Ardmore 1992/2013 bottled for The Auld Alliance Singapore, just 218 bottles, at 51,3% ABV. Today I present you Ardmore from independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. It was distilled in 1991 and bottled 2007, we have 16 years of maturation. The power is relatively low - 43% ABV. Score: 78. Ardmore 1991/2007 Gordon & MacPhail is not the best representative of this distillery. The taste is constantly warming up, requires time, breath, patience. Highland Single Malt Whisky

Ardmore distillery is located in the Highlands, in Kennethmont in Aberdeanshire. It was founded by Adam Teacher in 1898. Most of the production is used to compose a blend - Teachers. Darker, in the sense of peat, accents in Teachers come just from Ardmore. On the market basically there is only one edition of this single malt. Although recently Ardmore Legacy also appeared, but it hasnt fallen in my hands yet. With any luck you can meet other Ardmore expressions at the independent bottlers...

    In The Auld Alliance Singapore

While my last visit in The Auld Alliance Singapore I let myself to do a little tasting. All the single malts were presented naturally: cask strength, natural colour. Below are my basic tasting impressions. I started with Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Port Pipe, distilled in 2009, bottled in 2013, 54,5% ABV, bottle no. 1400 out of 4200. C: light amber; N: quite fresh, winey, red grapefruit, accents of just cut wood, quite sweet with hard candy; S: feels quite thick, tweaks on the tongue,...

    Young and perfect whisky

The first post on the blog I devoted to my first single malt whisky Laphroaig 10 years old. Then, as well as in a post about a visit to the Laphroaig Distillery, I wrote about the distillery and its surroundings. I would recommend those articles as an introduction to this post. [caption id=attachment_756 align=alignnone width=801] Laphroaig Quarter Cask w otulinie torfowej[/caption] Quarter Cask is the type of casks, which were widely used in the nineteenth century.
