The Peated Malt Speyside Glenlivet […]

Old Ballantruan to single malt stworzony w destylarni Tomintoul w Speyside. Dziś rynek whisky jest trudny, konkurencja coraz większa, ale i popyt rośnie, dlatego gorzelnie dotąd produkujące owocowe i łagodne malty, sięgaj po nowych odbiorców. W taki sposób coraz więcej firm ze Speyside oferuje torfowe wydania. Tą metodą poszli w Tomintoul i stworzyli markę mającą okazać, iż „ciemniejszą”, torfową stronę. W moje ręce wpadła Old Ballantruan 10 years old, która została zabutelkowana z 50% ABV i unchillfiltered. Brzmi przyzwoicie. Punktacja: 84. Old Ballantruan 10 years old to porządny single malt. Przy badaniu zapachu przyda się nieco cierpliwości, aby przebić się przez torf i dotrzeć do słodkich i owocowych elementów. Smak dobrze koresponduje z zapachem. Natomiast 50% ABV wydaje się dopasowane idealnie. Smakuje mi. [caption id=attachment_8032 align=alignnone width=1920] Old...

    Blended Malt od Douglas Laing

Its time to enter the New Year. For this occasion, I bought something that caught my attention above all with the look. Yes, I know it does not have the slightest impact on the tasting values, but you do not always have to take everything so seriously. This seriousness is more than enough for every day. Therefore, it started from the package - you can assess it by pictures below. Interesting, with a movable ring in the middle, allows you to play with characters. What else? We have here...

Another representative of the mysterious series

Not so long ago a courier knocked at my door handing a mysterious silver suitcase. I completely did not know what was going on, it was only after breaking into the interior that the Glenlivet Code and the equally mysterious black tasting glass were hidden. [caption id=attachment_7784 align=alignnone width=1920] The Glenlivet Code, 48% ABV[/caption] This is another, after Alpha and Cipher edition, on the occasion of which The Glenlivet encourages to independently name the smells and...

    Ballantine’s Single Malt Scotch Whisky

In the area around the last Christmas, I got The Glenburgie 15 years old and The Miltonduff 15 years old. These are relatively new products on the market, which more often appeared in a mixed form in blends. In what blends you could ask? Its not difficult to guess because both bottles are signed with the Ballantines logo - Series 001 and 002 Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I think that this is a very interesting idea, because not many uninitiated people have heard about Glenburgie or Miltonduff,...

    The gentle dram

The Glenlivet-Tomintoul Distillery is located in the hearty in whisky region of Speyside in the Ballindalloch. It was founded in 1964, primarily for the purposes of the rapidly growing market of blended whisky. Over time, single malts entered in the offer. Today I have in the glass the Tomintoul 12 years old in limited, as the producer indicates, version of Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, 40% ABV. Previously, we had here Tomintoul - the gentle dram with a peaty tang, that is a peated NAS from this...

Today it is time for available only in the distillery Glenfiddich 15 years old, cask strength 58.1% ABV. I bought that bottle and I filled it myself there. It comes from batch 20 its no is 81. Everything happened four years ago on September 24, 2013. To an even greater joy the Master Distiller Brian Kinsman dedicated it to me. Brian once again thank you and best regards. In fact, the whole trip was very successful. [caption id=attachment_7440 align=alignnone width=1920] Glenfiddich 15...

    Independent Macallan

Macallan previously appeared on the blog in the official version of Fine Oak, after 18 years of maturing. Today I decided to reach for Macallan 21 years old from the independent bottler Douglas Laing, Old & Rare series, Platinum Selection. We have here a single cask - refill hogshead, 245 bottles (mines no 6), cask strength 52% ABV, natural colour. Distillation took place in March 1989, bottling in September 2010. The presentation is just perfect. [caption id=attachment_7160...

    US Exclusive

During the holidays in Florida, by the way of buying champagne on New Years Eve 2016, I had, of course, revise a shelf with single malts. In fact, there were only standards and have already had to reach for Bourbon as the corner of my eye noticed Glenfiddich 14 years old Bourbon Barrel Reserve US Exclusive, 43% ABV. According to the label this version is offered exclusively in the US. Matured in bourbon casks for 14 years and then finished in the fresh American oak. The concept here is...

    Adult Glenfiddich.

It stands itself on my shelf, such a small bottle with the inscription Glenfiddich 18 years old, 40% ABV. I dont even remember from where I got it. It seems that somewhere in Asia, it was added to a large bottle of Glenfiddich. It makes no sense that it would stand so alone longer and get dusted. Definitely it must feel neglected. I have to take care of it. In the summer I described a 12 years old version, there I put a lot of links to other posts about this distillery and its spirits. I...

    Mysterious malt

A few days ago I got a sample of The Glenlivet Cipher. The assumption is a mysterious malt, of which the consumer has little to know and should independently explore the whisky, without any suggestions from the manufacturer. You need to find your own cipher. [caption id=attachment_6722 align=alignnone width=1920] The Glenlivet Cipher[/caption] We know its The Glenlivet and bottled with the power of 48% ABV.
