Whisky Live Singapore 2014 part 1
Whisky festival.
For nearly a month on the blog there were no new posts. Those of you who like Lukloveswhisky on Facebook, know that I was on vacation, in my profile I have tried to add some interesting information. So if you want be up to date, and you are using FB, just like Lukloveswhisky on FB.
I inaugurated my Holidays with the whisky festival – Whisky Live Singapore 2014. The event was organized in colonial Raffles Hotel, where approx. in 1915 famous drink Singapore Sling was created. At the place I arrived at 10 am with the opening. I was a little surprised to see, as at the entrance there were no queues. Both at Whisky Live Tokyo and Paris, a and in Limburg, crowds gathered an hour before the opening. Probably it can be explained by a very high humidity and temperatures exceeding 30° C. Much more visitors came in the late afternoon and it became like this till the end, at approx 10 pm.
Everything was done in a number of areas, in one gins, vodka and the like, in the second whisky, in the Long Bar collecting whiskies and separately Masterclasses.
In the price of the ticket we received Glencairn glass and could try everything, except collector drams in the Long Bar.
In Singapore a number of distilleries showed, though far less than in Tokyo or Paris. I visited most of the stands and met new whisky enthusiasts. I also met a few friends. Here is my photorelation.
In Highland Park stand.
BenRiach and GlenDronach family. I must admit that both distilleries are doing well now and produce very good whisky in many versions. I found here BenRiach 1988 Generations Singapore Exclusive, which quickly ended. I have got a bottle of this single cask and I like it very much.
Brand Ambassador Douglas Cook, who I already met before, also attended festival.
Recently I described on the blog Tasmanian Hellyers Road. At the festival I tried it in 10 and 12 years old versions. I like them. In the same stand Swedish Macmyra and French Armorik were available.
Short brake with Bruichladdich Black Art 1990.
Kilchoman Loch Grom and small talk with Brand Ambassador Peter Willis.
Glenfiddich room presented grandly. It was equipped with interactive presentations and position to pair whisky with snacks.
Glenfiddich The Original, back to the taste of the 60s.
I have met here Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador Matthew Ferguson-Stewart and was offered Glenfiddich 30 years old. A nice surprise. Thank you.
Samaroli stand. I bought from them a bottle of Laphroaig 1998, which I tasted during my onward journey. Soon I will describe my impressions.
Samaroli Evolution 2013 was also available. Multi vintage, pure malt. Made from many years in solera system. A very interesting concept.
Nikka Whisky, which now is 80, was also present.
Big Peat, blended malt, even with Port Ellen in it. I wonder how many, maybe a spoon … 🙂
Alt – A – Bhainne 12 years old, Braeval 15 years old.
Kavalan presented its range, among which Solist stood out positively, single cask, cask strength, sherry cask.
And much more …
At the end La Maison du Whisky with its bottlings.
Next post I will also devote to Whisky Live Singapore 2014. It will be about collectors room and Masterclass.
Scoring is based on my impressions and feelings, so its character is of course subjective.
